I'd have run out and offered him a ride. I drive Herbie down through the Castro and up to Twin Peaks (popular highest point in city overlook) and have given a couple strangers quick rides. A few years ago (when my Herbie replica was in one piece and running ), he was parked in my driveway overnight. Someone literally had the nerve to walk onto my property, down my driveway and cinder blocked his driver side window . You can believe I wasn't a happy camper when I went out to go to work the next day. Luckily it was covered by my insurance and I had the window repaired shortly after.
