Herbie Gathering 2009 Event and News

OK. I just received an email from Nancy Bushur of Mid America Motorworks. She wanted to know some of our tenative plans, ideas, etc. and I gave her an idea of what we were going for. My plan is to top the number of Herbies in attendance at the Mid America show a few years back. It really shouldn't be hard to do. I think the sky's the limit here. We are far enough out and plans can be made in the next couple of months to really cement this deal. I will be working with MAM, Kyle, Gail, and whom ever else is willing to help. I am leaning more towards a larger event with Disney/ VW involvement. We can do this. I'm local to Orlando, so planning and correspondance with these folks should be relatively easy. So far the main things I would like to have take place are.......
Special Showing of The Love Bug at the theatre
Discounted rates for members at Love Bug Resort
Car Show/ Decorate your VW contest (just like the original Herbie Days)
Display of Original Movie Cars over the years organized by movie...TLB, RA, MC, Bananas. (looking to beat the MAM Funfest record).. Multiple photo ops, Love Bug Resort
Memorabilia swap n shop-New merchandise (with help of Mid America and Disney?) as well as vintage material-posters, lobby cards, toys, etc.
Old Town to Disney group cruise
Like I said, the sky's the limit. I think we can do some brainstorming and custom tailor this event to make the majority of us happy enough to make advance arrangements to make this event successful. If I may ask, let's put a sticky or start a new thread with this one and entitle it Herbie Gathering 2009 Event News. Thanks guys, and let the games begin. I will post any news I hear from MAM.
