It's cool just because of what it is, flaws and all. You can make improvements to it as you can afford them and as you have time. The important thing is
that you have it and it's good enough to drive and look decent.
You could probably power buff those bumpers. it wouldn't make them like new, but might give them a little more uniformity and shine, but you'd have to take them off again. Maybe just hold out for rechroming or a better set. |

Thanks guys. Friday is 'visit my parents' day so I decided to give the Ghia a little shakedown cruise. (25 minute drive in the country.) I took it out near their place and found a nice photo spot on a back road.
I did try using a buffing wheel on a drill just to see if the polish would make a difference....it didn't. I'm hoping to get them chromed before
next summer. The bumpers were murder to try to get back on. I need to modify the rear brackets for sure to get the end bolts to line up with the holes in the
body. Unfortunately to get them on I had to resort to those stupid screws so they could go in at an angle. |

Kool1 is right. I heard the bottom has especially fallen out of the crewcab pickup market. Maybe K1 can trade it for the Ghia.

If he had a mint original barndoor deluxe I would consider it......even then I would have a tough time giving up my new baby. I've really fallen in love

That's cool Brad. I've always thought of you as a Type 2 guy, though I know you had a Type 1 Ghia stashed away. I can see how this car could be very
appealing.
