Hi Guys, I finally decided to blog my progress. I'm building a 72 Super Beetle Tribute Herbie. I would of liked to have done an actual 63 but my thin wallet wouldn't let me.O well sometimes we have to work with what we have. We (my daughters and I} started by disassembling the car.

This car has been stuck in a corner of our garage for years and hasn't been touched. We have too many vehicles at the moment, so one of them needs to sit outside this winter. I wasn't going to let it be H12, so it was decided it should be the '61. It was a real blast from the past getting it out in the open. I remember the car being an absolute mess, but now that I see it after a few year's experience it's certainly a manageable restoration.

I had an idea I've been knocking around in my mind for a little while now, I think it would be kinda cool to make a vid (mostly pictures) of of some of the Herbies/bugs the members have here. Maybe even add some clips from the 40th or other random videos people here have of their cars. I could do it, but I'm only a novice at video editing. It would all be with the approval of the cars owners of course.

Hi.

Hi all
This is Martin from Germany. I've got my very first Bug a couple of weeks ago, even though I'm 28 right now. I've been in love with Bugs and especially with Herbie, but never was able to afford one.
Well, right now my baby is still virgin. The big modifications will start in autumn / winter this Year. For now, I can't wait to cruise.
Unfortunately, the previous owner did a lot of bad things to him, so there is some major stuff to do.

My Herbie comes from Alsace. I bought him(it) in this state. Before I had a new beetle 1.8T. At present I live in the Atlantic Loire (in France).

My bug is of 1972. She(it) was aged. His(her,its) engine is a 1600 simple carburettor.

Why 54? Parceque I wanted to have a unique bug. I do not like making as everybody. And in more she(it) is blue. 53 would not have was credible!

I bought a '61 with slider two days ago for $100! (when I get some pics you'll see why) I plan on grafting the roof into my 66 so I can do a somewhat close Ierbie. Where should I cut the roof, or should I let the body shop decide? Also, where can I get some "smoothie" rims widened to 6 inch?

I spent the weekend getting Elwood all prepped for my next trip to Michigan this Saturday including a bath, wax, oil change, tire rotation, etc. And today was a B E A utiful day in the neighborhood so I swung up by the cemetary to take a few spring pics.
