Car Reported Stolen?

I am trying to register a car with a lost title. The price of registering it is nearly $400. The catch is that if it gets rejected, I don't get a refund. One of the main reasons of rejection is supposedly that the car turns up as being reported stolen. Is there a way to determine this ahead of time? Maybe someone in law enforcement can help? Thanks.

Alright friends, I have found a possible "deal" on a 1960 sunroof. It is fairly solid and priced at $1500. Now I seem to remember Doc having a strong opinion on the '60 bug for issues like a a one off transmission. Are there other issues with a '60? I can take that body and put it on my '63 pan, correct?

Backdate 1974 Beetle possible?

Sorry to bother but didn't know where else to post this. I usually lurk these days but I have a question: I have a 1974 Beetle, with shock absorbing bumpers. Would it be possible to back date this year beetle to a correct Herbie dated Beetle?

I had a 1968 I was going to backdate which I posted a long time ago but decided against it eventually and had gotten a hold of a '74 beater which I'm willing to do this project on.

This '74 has already gotten the fuel...

It look like December was a mixed bag for Volkswagen here in the US. December sales were up 16% over the same period last year, but total sales for the year were down 4.3%. The Jetta, CC, Tiguan, and new GTI are doing well. The Eos, Routan, and Touareg are flat. New Beetle and Passat have totally tanked. Here's the full story and numbers.

I post this type of thread every January, always interesting to hear what people think will happen with our VW hobby in the coming year.
Personally, I'd like to see more restored Volkswagens turning up at shows rather than the lowered rat look brigade and it would be kinda nice to see more retro type of cars but who knows ??.
Top of my wish list is to see the Beetle regain it's popularity. Obviously still hugely popular for a classic car but here in the UK, it's taken a...

I placed this in the Samba. This was built for a friend some years ago and was in a '75 super beetle that met an early demise. This is similar to my 1776 spec engine but built to stock specs.

Rebuilt 1600 dual port longblock, case line bored, decked, balanced crank & rods, vanagon style hydraulic lifters and cam, HD pump w/spin on oil filter, flywheel. Less than 7000 miles before car was totalled. Can build to turn key if desired.

believe it or not but my car has a factory installed alarm. Theres even a little sticker on the left rear window that states "WARNING, this vehicle is protected by the Volkswagen alarm system"

I had no idea where it was for the longest time until today, theres a big round thing in the engine compartment on the firewall that didn't seem to have a purpose. When I took the cover off I figured out that its a friggin' school bell

Air Compressor Opinions

Has anyone ever stored their air compressors outside? Besides the fact that it'd be nice to gain the amount of room it takes up in my shop (it's one of those mother, 6' tall ones), all the dust and debris from sanding and grinding really wrecks havoc on it. I have to install a new head gasket in it once or twice a year because of wear and tear. If it was outside, it'd be away from all that. I'll build a little shelter for it to keep the weather out, of course....

I got a set of 40 Kadrons, but the manifolds are for dual ports, and as these are going on Scooter, I need a set of single port manifolds..cant find them new..only ones I could find was empi's for 32's.. but lil harder finding them for single port 40's Kadrons/ webers might should be the same. so please keep an eye out and you guys with those large stashes have a look, maybe ya got a pair your not going to use.. thanks. (already checked with the darby..)
